Martin Renner-Wallace is a Canadian Operatic Tenor whose powerful voice and ​emotional depth has thrilled audiences across Canada. He is known to be able to ​couple a dramatic and commanding presence with sensitivity and vulnerability. His ​powerful sound combines a clarion and lyrical quality with a deep and warm ​baritonal edge and has been described as having “a clear pure tenor sound with ​exquisite high notes and lush warmth in his lower register.” (Kelowna Daily ​Courier).


In 2024, Martin returned to Kelown Opera to reprised his role as Canio in I ​Paggliacci and also played Gerardo in Gianni Schicchi. Other roles he performed ​this year were Rodolfo in La Bohème and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus. He also ​performed with Vancouver Opera at their annual Opera in the Park concert.


Recently, Martin as also played Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Don José in ​Carmen, Pollione in Norma, Canio in I Pagilacci, and Bacchus in Ariadne Auf ​Naxos. He is also an accomplished oratorio singer performing works across the ​repertoire such as Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9, Handel’s Messiah, Mahler’s ​Symphony no. 8, Britten’s Nocturne, Brian Current’s River of Light, and Verdi’s ​Requiem among others.

Martin has participated in numerous young artist programs including Pacific ​Opera Victoria’s Young Artist Program (2006), Calgary Opera’s Emerging Artist ​Program (2010-2011), and Vancouver Opera’s Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist ​Program (2012-2013). Martin remains active as a performer across Canada and has ​performed in China as well.
